COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S REPORT

Report of the Woman's Missionary Council President

”May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.  May the nations be glad and sing for joy.”  (Psalm 67:3-4 -  NIV)

Today we sing for joy as we partner with our Southern Methodist missionaries to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have not heard.  Truly we are Women with a Mission who have a vision for the harvest.  Our passion is to make the Lord Jesus known to the whole world.

The WMS currently has 525 members and 65 societies in four annual conferences.  Our newsletter, The Communicator has 639 subscribers.

We continue to be a strong arm of the missions program of The Southern Methodist Church having contributed approximately $60,000 this year to foreign missions.  We are thankful for all the societies that contributed to the missions deficit.  Noteworthy is the fact that the Eastern Conference Retreat raised $5,706 for this cause.  We praise the Lord that the WMS could have a part in meeting this financial need.

We continue to support Southern Methodist College.  Recently, we gave $1,000 to the Golden Jubilee Campaign as the college is celebrating 50 years of ministry.

During the 2005-06 academic year, five Missionary Kid (MK) Scholarships were awarded totaling $2,000.

I have traveled over 3,450 miles this year and appreciate the many courtesies extended me. I appreciate the honor of serving a second term as Council President and covet your prayers.

Energized for Service is our new conference theme based upon Philippians 1:9.  Our theme song will be “What a Mighty God We Serve”, and we are emphasizing prayer.  Please join us in this prayer ministry.

Respectfully submitted,

Carolyn W. Holland
